  • Market Report - Norway Expand Minimize Rystad Energy for the Arctic and Cold Climate Solutions project, 19 October 2016

Project members can contact Thor Christian Andvik (thor.christian.andvik@intsok.com) to access the reports.
Market report from Rystad Energy giving both the overview and the details on the current state and proposed developments in the Norwegian market.
The Norwegian Arctic, and especially the Barents Sea, has seen a great number of new discoveries over the past five years. Eleven years after the Goliat discovery, exploration results started to improve again with the discovery of Johan Castberg in 2011.
In terms of production, the Norwegian Arctic is expected to grow considerably. The first growth phase will be in 2016-2019 as Goliat is ramping up and Aasta Hansteen is put on stream. The next growth phase will be in the beginning of the next decade. The recent exploration success will most likely lead to an investment cycle, resulting in large growth in both spending and production. With these new projects, the Barents Sea will certainly become an important production province and could contribute as much as 15% of the total Norwegian production at the end of the next decade.
