Deep Water Conference Nov. 2013

14 November 2013

Location: Parmelia Hilton Hotel in Perth, Australia

INTSOK hosted a Deep Water Conference at the Parmelia Hilton Hotel in Perth, Australia on Thursday 14 November 2013. The day was split in two, with a focus on Floating Production and FLNG in the morning and SURF (Subsea Umbilical Risers and Flowlines) in the afternoon; and concluded with an evening cocktail reception with clients and contractors.

Australia is seeing an unprecedented number of deepwater developments in construction, detailed planning and execution. There are close to $200Bn in capital investment approved and under consideration.
Norway is the world’s largest offshore oil and gas market in terms of revenue and a testing ground for innovation and new technology. The challenges the industry faces in Australia are remarkably similar to those seen offshore Norway, as both regions are dealing with deep water, remote areas, a lack of existing infrastructure, environmentally sensitive areas and a limited resource pool.
Common themes for all of these developments currently being considered are remote areas and deep water (400-1500m). This will result in a large portion of these substantial Capex figures being spent on Floating Production Units and Subsea Production Systems, both areas where Norwegian suppliers have world class experience and unparalleled expertise.
This was an opportunity to meet the experts and learn from their knowledge and experience.
