This brief report is a year end overview of the Canada market, with a focus on the Atlantic Canada offshore region.
Canada is ranked as having the third largest oil reserves in the world, made up of oil sands and conventional reserves. Canada is the fourth largest producer and fourth largest exporter of oil in the world. Industry reports predict that Canada's total oil production should increase to 5.6 million barrels per day by 2035 - a 33 percent increase over 2017 levels.

Market report from Rystad Energy/Norwegian Energy Partners giving both the overview and the details on the current state and proposed developments in the Canadian offshore and onshore markets (Market Overview, Exploration & seismic, Infrastructure, Production & Development, Upstream Expenditure, Main Arctic challenges, Arctic projects and their technology needs).
The Atlantic Canadian offshore region currently has five producing projects, one development project and ongoing exploration activity. Production totaled 220,000 barrels per day of liquids and 0,5 billion of cubic meters of gas in 2017.
All of the spending during the next five years is expected to occur in the Newfoundland and Labrador region. Increased exploration spending is expected in the Northern Territories in the second half of the 2020’s.
