In light of the Covid-19 pandemic, the Malaysian oil and gas market has been forced to cut costs and delay projects. However, the future of offshore Malaysia is still bright, with several projects expected to be sanctioned in the coming years. As a result, production levels are forecast to be higher than ever seen before. The national oil company, Petronas, believes that deepwater activity will be able to attract investments for many years to come, with the government offering tax incentives for the development of deepwater fields. Another source of potential in Malaysia is the large gas volumes, making up more than 60% of the resource base.
