Hydro energy

2 May 2018

Market: Norway

Location: Statkraft HQ, Lilleakervei 6A, Lysaker

Norwegian Energy Partners is supporting the Norwegian hydropower cluster in its effort to develop the industry in Norway.
We will work with the industries and encourage the companies to cooperate in order to strengthen Norwegian suppliers' position globally. This was also the focus of the Hydropower Norway conference 2018.

The two main topics that were discussed during the Hydropower Norway conference were how to strengthen the supply chain within the hydropower cluster and how to approach the Chinese EPC market. The Norwegian Minister of Petroleum and Energy, Terje Søviknes, opened the conference with a great speech where he stressed the importance of the Norwegian hydropower industry and competence. He sees a huge potential for the Norwegian hydropower industry and hopes that large companies such as Statkraft and SN Power, together with Norwegian Energy Partners, could lead the way out into international markets for the smaller Norwegian hydropower companies. You can read his whole speech here (in Norwegian): https://www.regjeringen.no/no/aktuelt/hydropower-norway-conference/id2599837/
Jürgen Tzschoppe and Kjetil Forfang from Statkraft as well as Torger Lien from SN Power also contributed to the discussion with their perspectives.

The final topic of the day was "how to approach the Chinese EPC market". Torstein Dale Sjøtveit presented a report on Chinese EPC contractors and led a panel discussion with the topic "Working with Chinese EPC – can it be done?". Tor Bjørnå Berntsen – Malthe Winje, Tom Ødegaard - Multiconsult, Tom Jacobsen - Sedicon and Øystein Lilleland – Norconsult participated in the panel debate.

Mapping the Chinese EPC market and matching the Norwegian suppliers with these contractors is an ongoing project for Norwegian Energy Partners. Stay tuned for more information.
