Oslo Floating Production Day 2020

15-17 September 2020

Market: Norway

Oslo Floating Production Day 2020 was part of Norwegian Energy Week but was postponed due to the Covid-19 outbreak. The Conference was held as a virtual conference 15-17 September 2020.

Norway is a leading hub for maritime and offshore engineering. For the 16th year in a row, Norwegian Energy Partners invite you to get the latest updates  from world-class maritime and offshore engineer houses during the Oslo Floating Production Day.

Oslo Floating Production Day took place as a digital conference over three days. Top speakers from international oil companies and suppliers gave an update on the latest market trends, projects and technology development. Further we aim to address key challenges related to the energy transition – "engineering houses driving solutions towards low carbon footprint".

Takeouts from the conference:

The FPSO business is in large operating as normal, and managed to implement special procedures to minimize the impacts of Covid 19 and reduce risk. As the FPSO operators generally run on long term contracts, they have been able to maintain the production without any major disruptions so far. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the industry is experiencing manning challenges and logistical difficulties that in general delays projects.

After a slow period, a growth in the FPSO market is expected from year 2022. Brazil is by far still the largest market employing more than 50 % of the FPSOs . NORWEP  has a good foothold in this market, represented by our regional manager in Brazil,   Adhemar Freire  and  Gunn Vik  who has the overall responsibility for this market from Norway. Please contact these representatives for further information.

The engineering companies are now all driving towards low carbon footprint solutions applying the FPSO knowledge in the offshore wind industry and enabling low carbon footprint FPSO solution in the traditional business. The engineering firms are also engaged in gas solutions, production and transport as well as advanced seafood production.  For further information contact Knut- Erik Steen who is looking into cross over technologies from floating production technologies to other applications offshore .

This year’s FPSO /FLNG conference will end a journey of 20 years of annual gatherings. From next year this cluster will be integrated in the Norwegian Offshore Energy Week where this will play an important part . For further input please contact Werner Karlsson .
