After three and a half years Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Bahrain and Egypt agreed to end their blockade of Qatar. The breakthrough in diplomatic relations could present new opportunities for Qatar with its neighbors going forward. Despite the blockade, Qatar was able to keep exporting LNG to the rest of the world, including gas-poor UAE through the Dolphin pipeline, averaging 1.8-2.0 Bcf/day, or 20% of UAE’s overall gas demand. The opening of the border could result in Qatari LNG cargoes heading to Dubai.
