NORWEP offshore wind delegation to Taiwan 2018

Wind energy

9 - 13 April 2018

Market: Taiwan

Location: Taipei

Norwegian Energy Partners is organising an offshore wind fact finding trip to Taiwan from 9-13 April 2018. The Taiwanese offshore wind market is one of the fastest growing in Asia and at the same time possibly the most accessible one. Taiwan has some of the best wind resources in the region and attractive natural geography for installation of offshore wind farms. The government is supportive, with strong renewable energy ambitions and a 0.5 GW target of installed capacity by 2020 and 3 GW by 2025 as part of a larger plan to replace 8GW of existing nuclear power by 2025. These ambitious goals are supported by attractive governmental support.

The Taiwanese authorities and companies are looking for cooperation with foreign companies, which can provide knowledge and solutions within the entire value chain, from project development, trough turbine supply, construction, installation and maintenance and the Norwegian offshore and maritime expertise can play key role in the future development of offshore wind in Taiwan, making Taiwan an attractive market for Norwegian supply chain with ambitions in Asia. Orsted, Eolfi, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, Siemens and other strong industry participants have all set up shop in Taiwan and are eagerly involved to develop the strong offshore wind potential of Taiwan.

Meetings are planned from 9th to 13th of April, with arrival on Sunday the 8th. The visit is supported by the Taiwan´s Ministry of Economic Affair (MOEA) and the Bureau of Energy (BoE), facilitating a seminar and workshop program, meetings with project owners, developers, turbine suppliers, fabrication yards and installation companies. The meeting program is supported by networking events, lunches and dinners.
