Offshore wind market outlook Japan
Japan is aiming for GHG net zero by 2050 and the construction of 1GW offshore wind annually to 10 GW by 2030 and 30-45 GW of mixed fixed and floating wind under development by 2040. The first auction round was just concluded, totaling 1.7 GW, with a Mitsubishi led consortium winning all three projects. While the results surprised the industry, the 2nd auction is already under way with scheduled announcements in December this year.
