About Seasystems AS (part of Scana)

  • Seasystems delivers mooring solutions, offloading systems, turret solutions, swivels, engineering studies and service/maintenance.

  • The company is located at Vestby, about 40 kilometer south of Oslo City.

  • The company has slowly changed its strategy towards the green shift

  • Operating in segments like floating wind, fish farming and oil and gas.

  • Seasystems is owned by the stock listed investment company Scana ASA.

Back in 2015, Seasystems decided that the future of the company would be dependent on bringing its 25 years’ oil and gas experience into alternative markets with similar requirements for mooring competence. Fish farming and offshore wind, two industries with solid roots in Norwegian maritime traditions, were natural choices. In fish farming, major new projects have been realized through governmental development licenses, and Seasystems has secured important mooring contracts for several of these.

In floating wind power, which is expected to contribute hugely to the reduction of CO2 emissions, Seasystems has worked strategically towards the market for several years. This effort has led to international engineering contracts, participation in research projects, and most importantly – the supply of mooring equipment to Equinor’s Hywind Tampen project.

Within fixed-foundation offshore wind the company is developing advanced sea fastening systems capable of securing structures weighing several hundred tons at sea. The goal is to reduce the structures’ handling times and the need for manpower on deck, and not least to improve the safety for deck crew. The sea fastening systems are based on quick disconnection equipment for mooring solutions with over 20 years’ operating time.

Seasystems’ philosophy is to help owners of floating structures to reduce total costs, both investment and operating costs. With highly qualified engineers, combined with a network of highly competent partners, we can take on large and complex assignments. An efficient and easy-going organization further ensures that costs are kept on an internationally competitive level.

The oil and gas industry will still be an important market the for the coming years, until the market for sustainable solutions grows sufficiently large. During this shift, Seasystems competence, our most important value, will be kept, increased, and refined – ensuring that the company remains an attractive workplace and an international supplier.
