Interwell is pioneering a more cost-effective, more sustainable, and safer solution as an alternative to current P&A methods. Ongoing rigless deployments with our unique thermite-based solution have delivered a targeted and controlled exothermic reaction that aims to reinstate caprock integrity in the well cross-section, permanently. Our ultimate ambition is to deliver a rock-solid impermeable barrier with long-lasting integrity, independent of well-design, application, and formation type; first time, every time.

We have, so far, set 21 barriers in 18 wells before our next set of field trials will start at the end of 2020. Once these next trials are concluded, the technology will be rolled out as an alternative to section milling and punch&squeeze.
