Value proposition

Arctic drilling involves both drilling of exploration wells and production wells. Aker Solutions has experience from design of floating drilling units as the Aker H-6 delivered in 2009 and the latest Aker Solutions Arctic Drillship.

Arctic drilling introduces several new challenges to the drilling unit compared to conventional drilling. Sea ice and low temperatures calls for a unit with capability of disconnection and reconnection capabilities including winterization.

The experience from designing different arctic drilling units has given Aker Solutions an overview and understanding on how the arctic environment impacts the design and its functions.
