World LNG Production and Market Growth
Global LNG production is projected to expand by 40%, reaching nearly 670 million tonnes per annum by 2028 – the largest capacity increase in the product’s history. The LNG carrier fleet is also growing, with the number of on-order and existing vessels now exceeding 1,000.
The international LNG market has experienced significant growth due to the rising global demand for cleaner energy sources. This market is characterized by a complex supply chain, including liquefaction plants, LNG carriers for transportation, and regasification terminals at destinations. A key challenge could be the potential mismatch between production and supply.
Opportunities abound in LNG technologies, including liquefaction plants, Floating LNG (FLNG), Floating Storage and Regasification Units (FSRU), new terminals, and ships – not only LNG carriers but also LNG-fuelled vessels.
