Value proposition

A major contributor to the emissions from offshore installations is the power demand from operating its facilities and utilities. Siemens ‘Power from Shore’ solutions have been deployed in Norway in brownfield projects and have resulted in significant reductions in emissions.

HVDC and HVAC solutions are installed on a number of floating and fixed oil and gas installations in Norway, with a 200 MW HVDC solution installed on Johan Sverdrup in 2019. This has resulted in the Johan Sverdrup carbon intensity reducing to 0.67kg/boe, which compares with a global average of 18-20kg/boe.
