Why Choose Reelwell DuaLink – Powered Pipe?
Wired pipe technologies have the potential to revolutionise the downhole drilling sector by enabling innovative services
and processes that have never been seen before. Industry studies indicate that these technologies could lead to
efficiency gains of 7-15%, which would help reduce well construction costs and minimise environmental emissions.
Meeting market demands to transform the industry, Reelwell brings you DualLink.
The only wired drill pipe that utilises digital telemetry, power, and enhanced downhole reliability, DualLink has been
designed to meet the needs of both land and offshore drilling.
Benefits of Reelwell DuaLink – Powered Pipe
High bandwidth bi-directional telemetry of >56k bits/sec downhole
Providing a significant step change from current speeds of 1 to 20 bits per second, enabling the necessary use of
data, further digitization, and atomization.
Constant electrical power supply of >500W downhole
Significantly changing the limited supply lifespan, removing batteries from tools, while facilitating the introduction of
new technologies
Reliable solution meeting on- and offshore drilling requirements
Ensuring reliable levels for market adoption of a second-generation wired pipe design that meets E&P industry
requirements.
Open access network solution breaking down industry barriers
Enabling anyone to connect to the network, integrating drilling systems, hardware, and software providers, and
breaking down today's isolated service offerings.
Client Impact
Technology - Focused on reliability
Historically, wired drill pipe usually depended on one or two wires running through the drill string. This lack of
redundancy negatively affected reliability, resulting in increased drilling downtime and higher costs.
Recognizing this failure point, DualLink was developed with a strong focus on reliability.
DualLink is designed using standard drill pipe that features a unique conductor layer. It includes a copper braid
composed of 816 individual wires, creating a robust structure with extensive surface contact. In the event that one wire
experiences a short circuit, there is a built-in contingency plan to prevent any risk of signal loss.
