Clients frequently lose time and incur cost when lower completion strings cannot reach total depth because of obstructions such as micro-doglegs, casing swelling, cavings or tight spots; these impediments force additional trips, extended circulation or deliberate surface string rotation, and can compromise safety and wellbore integrity while increasing rig hours and fuel use. Longstroke addresses that problem as a self-rotating reamer shoe that converts axial compression at an obstruction into controlled, incremental rotation, automatically delivering up to four revolutions to ream past the blockage without requiring surface string rotation or circulation. Its internal spring stores the compression energy and resets when the tool is released, a ratchet mechanism prevents transmission of left-hand torque into the completion string, and the spring is protected to reduce wear and maintain reliable operation. The practical value to the client is faster attainment of total depth with fewer interventions, reduced non-productive time and operating costs, improved site safety and preserved wellbore integrity, and—by shortening rig time—lower fuel consumption and associated greenhouse gas emissions.
