HydroTable® | The Floating Cable Carousel

HydroTable® is a patented hydrostatic cable carousel that supports thousands of tonnes of cable on a thin, pressurised water film, replacing the conventional wheel and rail support arrangement.

The water film acts as a hydrostatic bearing, providing continuous support to the rotating structure and cable payload across the entire load bearing area.

High capacity with low structural mass
Eliminating the conventional support arrangement enables a significantly lighter architecture and a high storage capacity relative to structural mass. This simplifies transportation, installation and integration. For offshore applications, reduced weight provides additional benefits where deck loading and centre of gravity are critical design considerations.

Distributed loading and reduced foundation requirements
The carousel and cable load is transferred across a large supporting area rather than through discrete load paths. This reduces concentrated loads and can significantly reduce foundation and civil works requirements, particularly for brownfield sites, existing quays and locations with challenging ground conditions.

Reduced mechanical complexity
HydroTable® can reduce the number of rotating components by up to 90%, resulting in fewer wear components, inspection points and maintenance interfaces.

Greater structural tolerance
Continuous hydrostatic support provides increased tolerance to structural deviations, foundation settlement and alignment changes throughout the operating life of the installation.
