Installing tubing hangers on subsea completions has traditionally required a THRT and an umbilical on the rig in the red zone . THRUT, developed by CCB Subsea, reduces operational complexity, minimizes personnel exposure in the red zone, eliminates the need for a dedicated installation umbilical, and significantly decreases rig time and associated costs. As an in-riser tool, THRUT operates mechanically through the drill pipe and is pressurized within the BOP stack, interfacing directly with OEM tubing hangers and arriving pre-mounted onshore before it reaches the rig. With no clamps required, it runs as fast as drill-pipe, delivering seamless run-in and pull-out with a best-in-class maintenance cycle, cutting rig time per well by more than 50 percent, with savings of up to 18 hours at 3,300 ft, and no work required in the red zone. Built to Specially Designed Lifting Appliance (SDLA) standards and engineered for harsh offshore conditions, THRUT is suitable for all water depths and has a debris and brine tolerant design. It is compatible with all major OEM systems, and CCB Subsea holds MSAs with OEM and service partners, ensuring trained, certified personnel are available to operate the tool worldwide. Since its 2022 launch, THRUT has completed more than 40 runs with a 100 percent success rate, establishing itself as the leader in true umbilical-less tubing hanger installation and delivering savings of up to $1 million per well completion.
